The Destiny With Liberty Foundation is made up of people linked to the academic world, humanists with a clear vision in the defense of Western values.

After the calamitous failure of communism and the crises caused by socialist excesses, the enemies of the values ​​of Western civilization are once again questioning the founding and operating principles of our open societies, not by attacking head-on, as in the past, our system of social coexistence, that is, moral values ​​and the democratic system of law, but through new, varied and multiple fronts. These values ​​are the basis of the modern, prosperous and free society in which we wish to live. «Free» here lies the basis of Destiny with Liberty, the freedom of the Western world.

Western civilization is the set of ideals and values ​​that are originally derived from the cultures of Athens, Rome and Jerusalem, transformed and completed by Christianity. Only in the West were the ideals of freedom and equality held as a universal ideal in light of which all actions should be measured. The West has produced its share of despotism and oppression, but there has always been its own tradition of thought, going back to Athens and Jerusalem, from which to provide a court of appeal. Secondly, the rule of law is subverted. In the face of the rule of law and the limitation of the power of the democratic state, today’s anti-establishment forces – with populists and nationalists at the forefront – defend a democracy outside the law in order to pursue their wildest dreams without any respect for individual freedom, which would be crushed by their totalitarian delusions if they were to seize power.

Thirdly, traditions are denied. The scholastic fathers in Catholic universities discovered that spontaneous institutions, those freely born and successfully developed by civil society, are crucial to understanding the greatest achievements of human history: language, the family, law, the market, the division of labour, money, the city, democracy, the state, etc. Unlike in the historical past, the enemies of the West live within our borders, while a good number of non-Western countries openly use our best institutions: individual freedom, the rule of law, private property, free competition in the markets, commercial law, legal certainty, etc. to prosper. Will we continue to sit idly by or will we face the challenge of the denaturalization of our civilization as it deserves? Destiny With Liberty was founded in large part, not only for the defense of Western humanist values, but to provide a place of intelligent opposition to communism, which we can call «the most blatant force of Satanic utopianism of the century.» While we can also point out that the Soviet threat resides in the dustbin of history, the legacy that Destiny With Liberty wants to impregnate is to articulate a strong and forceful defense of the United States and Western civilization against other enemies, whether a threat from radical Islam, multiculturalism or some other germ of threat continues, with special determination and focus, through the activities of the Foundation. Destiny with Liberty reaffirms the Manifesto for the West, in a certain way, it recognizes that “the secularist attempt to relegate the religious dimension only to the private sphere” is negative for culture. But it stops short of pointing out the positive role that Christianity has played in shaping Western culture. And what I say about Christianity in relation to Western culture could be said, mutatis mutandis, of the role that Islam or Buddhism have played in the formation of Muslim or Asian culture. It is simply a matter of paying attention to what cultural historians have pointed out: there is no culture without religion. Secularism, by attempting to do away with religion, will do away with Western civilization.
